A Special Day

| No Comments
Big Birthday Wishes go out to my dad today!  Roger Wilbur Cherrington was born at home in Freeborn, Minnesota on this very day in 1925 to Warren and Ruth, their fifth and final family addition!  The story that my Grandma C would tell about his birth his was that he was such a tiny baby, his head fit into a coffee cup and he slept in a shoebox.  Now, I have to wonder if the coffee cup and shoebox were both of the extra-large variety, but it always made a good story nonetheless!

Happy Birthday Daddy and many more returns of the day!!

Thank you Mr. Shakespeare

Sonnet 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me prov'd,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Doldrums

Seems like that is where I am at right now, the low time of the year.  Winter has never really arrived and spring isn't quite on the horizon.  I am having to push myself to get at all of the necessary work and projects here at home, and have found lots of rationalizations to avoid them altogether!

Thank goodness I do have the wonder of Hawaii to look forward to and not much longer either!  We leave on February 22 and the sun and warm temperatures will be a tonic!!  When we return it will be nearly time to think of outside gardening time and that is something to ease the transition back to the midwest!

One bit of news, yesterday in her Biology class Delaney fainted and got sick while attempting to dissect a worm!!  (at first we were told it was a cow's eye, but it actually was a worm)  When Taylor went to school to fetch her, he said she was completely white! I am happy to report that by late afternoon she was feeling back to herself.  I do hope that if she is required to do more dissections, the teacher will have her sitting down on a chair!

Catching up

The past several weeks are a blur it seems, and now here we are on the 2nd day of another month !

I missed posting a "Happy Birthday" to Taylor Cherrington Hatfield on January 23rd - wishes are every bit as sincere even now!  I left for Minnesota that very same day, and l spent the past week with my folks and family in New Ulm.  Very nice time!  I did think of Marshall on January 29 which would have been his and Liz's 63rd wedding anniversay.  I am sure it was a bittersweet day for him.

Today I started playing my Hawaiian CD's to get in the proper mood for our trip to Hawaii on the 22nd, as if I needed Hawaiian music to help me....haha!

This Sunday is the Super Bowl in Indianapolis - big festivities downtown all week.  Also, on Saturday is Delaney's first Winter Guards competition in Terre Haute.  We plan to attend, and it should be loads of fun!

Tonight I am hosting Conversation Club at our house, and that promises to be a fun time as well.

And before I know it, we will be winging our way to Honolulu!  Yippee!
