Happy 87th Birthday to Marshall!!  It is no easy thing to have a birthday the day after Christmas as it tends to be "lumped together" with that celebration.... many, many more happy returns of the day to Steve's dad!!

Time was with most of us, when Christmas Day, encircling all our limited world like a magic ring, left nothing out for us to miss or seek; bound together all our home enjoyments, affections, and hopes; grouped everything and everyone round the Christmas fire, and make the little picture shining in our bright young eyes, complete.

Steve is back from London, made it out of Heathrow by nothing less than a miracle with all the storm related delays and cancellations there.  Matthew and Davie arrived last night, and beat the stormy weather forecast.  Christmas preparations are drawing to a close, and we look forward to the 4 pm church service tomorrow where Delaney has a little solo to sing and Ella has several lines to speak in the Children's Program.  Afterwards everyone will come back over here for some pork barbque sandwiches, mac n'cheese and fruit salad - then I would bet Taylor and Melissa will bring their two very excited daughters home and begin the longest night of the year!!!

We are thinking of our families in Minnesota and Florida and wishing we could all be together - but hoping everyone has a very blessed Christmas and lots of good cheer!

Wrapping up wrapping project for the night.  Or should I say morning, since it is after midnight - I went downstairs at 9:30 pm and I am now nearly finished with putting paper on gifts!

Having shoveled the 4 inch snowfall off of our huge driveway on Tuesday, I wasn't real crazy about another 4 inches that fell last night!  I wanted to finish our Christmas cards today and not take time out to do any more snow removal this week.  Not to mention I wasn't too sure my back could take it either.  Around 3 pm the doorbell rang, and there stood the fellow who had stopped to talk to me as I was shoveling on Tuesday - he was walking around the neighborhood, shovel in hand, looking for work.  He had admired my shoveling ability, and I told him I was a Minnesota Girl and could move snow with the best of 'em!   So today when he was again looking for shoveling work, he saw my driveway still full of snow and came to the door to enquire if I needed his services.  "Ya sure, you betcha" I told him, and wrote him a check on the spot.  Twenty bucks to Mr. Lloyd Lett -  what a bargain, and what a great job he did!

Loving wishes to my older sister Judith Lynne, born this day 62 years ago!  We are just two years apart, and because of that we shared so much fun as we grew up together ~ now we are living  hundreds of miles apart, but still close in spirit!!

Today Gloria had a 60th birthday party for me at her lovely home (or as Delaney says "Mrs. Worth's mansion"!).  It was wonderful, six of my very dearest friends honored me with their presence and we had a fun time of laughter, food and companionship.  Each of these ladies adds so much to my life and I am truly blessed to call them "friends".  We had champagne mimosas and cashews, then a delicious luncheon of stuffed turkey wraps, gourmet salad and homemade rolls.  My birthday cake was white with raspberry filling - delicious.  Everyone brought me a very nice gift, and as a complete surprise, my folks had emailed Gloria a picture of the gift they were giving me - a handmade quilt rack from my dad's workshop!!

Thankful for such perfectly wonderful friends to celebrate my birthday with!

Last week when the girls were playing ping pong in the basement with Uncle Matthew, the ball went bouncing behind the furnace - where I had hidden a new snow sled for their Christmas gift.  Of course when Delaney and Ella saw it, they pretty well guessed it was for them!  Surprise no more!!

This morning it snowed about 4 inches here, and when the girls arrived the first question they asked was "Can we use our new sled today since we saw it already?"  Well, why not - they had several hours of fun with it, sledding down the slope in our front yard and that alone was worth them finding it earlier than Christmas Day!

There is just about nothing else as good for kids as playing outside in the snow!

All because I am 60 now - haha!

.....call me a 60 year old!!!
